Edward G. Knight

Edward G. Knight, MAI, SRA

Ed Knight is a Certified General Appraiser in the State of Virginia and the owner and Chairman of Knight, Dorin & Rountrey, Inc.  He holds the MAI and SRA designations of the Appraisal Institute.  He is the past President of the Virginia Commonwealth Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, the past President of the Real Estate Circle of Excellence at VCU and a member of the Richmond Real Estate Group.  He has appraised a wide variety of properties for institutional lenders, government entities and individuals throughout central Virginia and surrounding areas, including apartments, office, retail, industrial, residential subdivisions, mixed-use, special use and vacant land. He has also prepared market studies for various property types, including mixed-use, retail and office properties.  Ed is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management.

Michael A. Knight, MAI

Michael A. Knight is a Certified General Appraiser in the State of Virginia and current President of Knight, Dorin & Rountrey.  He holds the MAI designation of the Appraisal Institute. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate.  In 2003, Michael joined KDR as a full- time appraiser and has appraised a wide variety of property types since that time, including: apartments, retail, office, industrial, mixed-use (large and small), residential subdivisions and vacant land.

William A. Hopkins, Jr., MAI, SRA, ASA-RP

Bill Hopkins is a Certified General Appraiser (#4001 000265) in the State of Virginia and a senior staff appraiser with Knight, Dorin & Rountrey, Inc. since 2004. He holds the MAI and SRA designations of the Appraisal Institute, and the ASA-RP designation of the American Society of Appraisers.  He is the past President of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.  Bill has appraised a wide variety of properties for lenders, government entities (including VDOT, the Department of the Interior, and the National Park Service), charitable organizations (including The Nature Conservancy and the American Battlefield Trust) and individuals throughout Central Virginia and surrounding areas.  Property types include apartment, office, retail, industrial, residential subdivision, special use, farm, timberland, cropland and other various vacant land types. Bill graduated from Virginia Polytechnic institute & State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business – Finance in 1981.

Summer D. King

Summer Back is an appraiser apprentice at Knight, Dorin & Rountrey, Inc.
She holds Bachelor of Science in Real Estate from Virginia Commonwealth University. Since joining Knight, Dorin & Rountrey, Inc. in 2016, she has performed research for and aided in the development of appraisals of a variety of commercial properties including retail, office, industrial, mixed-use developments, planned and existing subdivisions, and vacant land. She also
has experience with complex analyses and reports including market studies,
rent studies, and feasibility studies. In addition to her professional experience, Summer is a past president of Rho Epsilon, the academic real estate fraternity
at VCU.

Scott Gross

Scott Gross is an appraiser apprentice at Knight, Dorin & Rountrey, Inc.  He holds Bachelor of Science in Real Estate from Virginia Commonwealth University along with Associates in Business Administration from John Tyler Community College. Since joining Knight, Dorin & Rountrey, Inc. in 2019, he has performed research for and aided in the development of appraisals of a variety of commercial properties including retail, office, industrial, mixed-use developments, planned and existing subdivisions, and vacant land. In addition to his professional experience, Scott is a past officer of Rho Epsilon, the academic real estate fraternity at VCU.
